FALLING FOR MAKE BELIEVE
A World Premiere with
Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Lorenz Hart
Book by Mark Saltzman
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, RETURNS ENGAGEMENT BEGINS JUNE 6TH
May 15,
2013...Burbank... The Colony Theatre
is thrilled to announce that the final production of its "Season of
Premieres,"
the World Premiere of
FALLING FOR MAKE BELIEVE,
will have a return
engagement starting June 6th, after a brief
hiatus, to accommodate
the demand for tickets.
With
Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by
Lorenz Hart, Book by Mark Saltzman, and directed by Jim Fall,
FALLING FOR
MAKE
BELIEVE was greeted by rave reviews and such
enthusiastic
word-of-mouth that the announced performances sold out.
"We
have been working on this show with
Mark for over two years," says Artistic Director Barbara Beckley, "so
to watch
it come together so beautifully, and then have the critics and the
public
embrace it so enthusiastically, is incredibly gratifying." When asked about the
extension, Executive
Director Trent Steelman responds, "it's a big show and an extension
depended on
the availability of key people as well as other factors, so we're very
happy
that it all worked out."
FALLING FOR MAKE BELIEVE is the
story of Lorenz (Larry) Hart,
one of Broadway's all-time greats, the brilliant lyricist who penned
"My Funny
Valentine," "Blue Moon," "Manhattan," "Falling in Love With Love,"
"Bewitched,
Bothered and Bewildered," "Where or When," and countless other classics. As half of the legendary
team of Rodgers and
Hart, he lived a life of dizzying heights and crushing lows. Mark Saltzman (author of
The Colony's smash
hit
Clutter: The True Story of the
Collyer Brothers Who Never Threw Anything Out) captures them
all in an
intimate look at the life and times of this lyrical genius, a brand new
musical
featuring some of the most memorable songs of the 20th Century.
Also on
the creative team are Musical
Director Keith Harrison and Choreographer Lisa Hopkins, with Scenic
Design by
Jeff McLaughlin, Costume Design by Dianne K. Graebner, Lighting Design
by
Sohail e. Najafi, Sound Design by Drew Dalzell, and Properties Design
& Set
Dressing by MacAndME.
Featured
in the cast are Ben D. Goldberg
as Lorenz Hart, Brett Ryback as Richard Rodgers, Tyler Milliron as
Fletcher
Mecklin, Rebecca Ann Johnson as Vivian Ross (a composite character
based on
Vivian Segal), and Jeffrey Landman as Doc Bender.

The award-winning Colony Theatre Company was
founded in 1975 as a 99-seat Equity-waiver theatre in Silver Lake. Over
the years the company was so successful artistically, and built such a
large subscriber base, that in 2000 it was able to move into a 270-seat
theatre created for it by the City of Burbank, becoming one of only 5
mid-size professional theatres in the LA area that produce a year-round
season of plays and musicals, and that employ actors under contract
with Actors' Equity Association.
The theatre is located at 555 North Third
Street, at the corner of Cypress, in the heart of the Burbank Media
Center. For further information, call (818) 558-7000. Fax number: (818)
