Terrence Shank

Terrence Shank as Founding Artistic Director for The Colony, staged 24 productions from 1975 to 1984 including premieres now regarded as milestones in the company’s early history: The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, The Grapes of Wrath, The Notebook of Trigorin, Sunfire Man, The Recantation of Gallileo and the original production of Dandelion Wine. In 2000 he was a part of the new milestone in the Colony's history with the opening of the stage in Burbank when rejoined old friends to once again collaborate and celebrate the theatrical magic of Ray Bradbury in the revival of Dandelion Wine.

Under his leadership, The Colony was honored with 16 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle nominations, 10 Awards for Distinguished Achievement and a Special Award for Continuing Excellence in Production.  

From 1985-1991, he was Associate Director of Drama with the National Theatre of South Africa, staging 58 productions and collecting over 30 Awards for Direction and Production.  

Terrence is the recipient of a Special Alumnus Award from Carnegie-Mellon for Contribution to the American Theatre, Best Play/Direction from the Actor’s Theater of Louisville, two Edinburgh Festival Citations and numerous other honors for his work abroad.  He is currently Artistic Director for the Mount Dora Theatre Company near Orlando, Florida
