Kwana Martinez first appeared on the Colony stage as "Actor 4" (playing 4 different characters) in Around the World in 80 Days.
Kwana spent the better part of a year touring with Lily Plants A Garden for the Mark Taper/ PLAY series. Other Southern California credits include Karana in The Island of the Blue Dolphins at Laguna Playhouse, and Nell Gwynn in Compleat Female Stage Beauty at the Old Globe (Robby nominated, Best Supporting Actress).
Regional roles include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Miranda in The Tempest for Commonwealth Shakespeare Co., Kundry in the World Premiere of Susan Sontag's Alice in Bed at American Repertory Theatre, both in Boston; Ilya in As Bees in Honey Drown at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Amy in Stephen Belber's Tape at The Contemporary American Theatre Festival in West Virginia, Pattie Mae in Home at Hartford TheatreWorks in Connecticut, and Delia in Blues for an Alabama Sky for Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and Arizona Theatre Co.
Kwana is a transplant from New York, where her roles included Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro at Target Margin, the title role in Antigone at Tribeca Playhouse, Yvonne in the New York Premiere of Churchill's Mouthful of Birds at The Flea, and work with New York Theatre Workshop, New Dramatists, La MaMa, NEC, Nuyorican Poets, and Irish Arts, to name a few.
Television and film credits include One Life to Live and the independent short Pits of Hell.
Kwana is a graduate of the
ART program at Harvard and Vassar College in New York.
