June 16th, 2002…Burbank, CA…Happiness is…The Colony Theatre Company presenting its second production of its 2002 - 2003 “Season of Discovery,” the Los Angeles premiere of the new, revised, Broadway Production of YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN with Book, Music and Lyrics by Clark Gesner and a revised book and new songs by Andrew Lippa (THE WILD PARTY). This will be the Colony Theatre’s second production as an Equity Theatre. YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN will be directed by Ovation and Garland Award-winner Todd Nielsen (ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY, A NEW BRAIN). YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN will open on Saturday, August 10th and continue through Sunday, September 8th at the Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) in the heart of the Burbank Media Center.

This production of YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN was re-imagined by its creative team and helped make a star of Kristin Chenoweth when it was revised on Broadway in 1999. The Broadway director Michael Mayer visited with Charles M. Schulz to get his blessing on the revision. Mr. Schulz gave Mayer access to his cartoons and the result was thorough. Seventeen of the original show’s scenes have been deleted and 21 new ones have been added. Additionally, composer Andrew Lippa (THE WILD PARTY) has revised seven of the original 14 songs with new vocal and dance arrangements and has written two NEW songs as well as reconceiving the beloved opening number! This truly is a brand new look at the wildly popular show and it will be PEANUTS entertainment the whole family can enjoy!

Barbara Beckley, Producing Director of the Colony Theatre comments, “Is there a better time with everything going on in the world, to bring the pure joy, innocence, laughter and happiness that is this show to our theatre and to Los Angeles? We are giddy with excitement about this brand new production of YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN and thrilled that our theatre company will be the first to bring this revised and re-imagined version to the families of Southern California.”
