In this, its fifth year in its beautiful home in Burbank, the multi-Ovation award-winning theatre company will be taking its subscribers and audiences on 5 extraordinary journeys from Sherlock Holmes' London onto a very Grand Tour, from Mozart's Vienna to the lives of some very love-struck cats and then finishing up with the always infamous TBA. Barbara Beckley, Artistic Director of the Colony Theatre comments, "30 years! Wow! It has been a most extraordinary journey to get here and it's a year to celebrate all that we have accomplished. The 2005/2006 Colony Theatre Company season:

Fiendishly clever. Wickedly funny. "It means, my dear Watson, that within a very short period of time, only days perhaps there is every likelihood that I shall be murdered."

SHERLOCK'S LAST CASE
by Charles Marowitz

June 8 - July 10

We begin our season with the return of a fiendishly clever mystery that began here in Los Angeles! Someone is trying to kill Sherlock Holmes. Now the greatest detective on earth must solve the case of his life. Come travel back to Arthur Conan Doyle's foggy Victorian London to witness hair-raising twists and turns, scenes of odd happenstance and outbursts of comic brilliance. As the sinister plot unravels, you'll be drawn inexorably to a stunning climax that will take your breath away. But will it also take our hero's…forever?

Directed by David Rose

The Purrrrfect Romantic Comedy!

INDOOR/OUTDOOR
by Kenny Finkle

August 17 - September 18, 2005

Our second production of our 30th season will be the West Coast Premiere of a play that has the regional theatre world purring in delight! Overly pampered housecat Samantha is falling madly in love with handsome outdoor wildcat Oscar only a thin pane of glass keeps them apart. Will Samantha's lonely-guy owner ever understand? Is the visiting cat therapist flying on catnip? Will love conquer all? This funny, romantic tale of two cats separated by fate feels so human, even dog lovers will be drawn into the joys, laughs and heartaches as well as the grand themes of hope and inspiration.

"And every once in a while, we'll be able to look into each other's eyes and for a moment, even if that's all it is, a moment, for that moment we'll understand each other and I'll love you…."

Directed by Stefan Novinski

Danger. Daring. Destiny. "It is easy to die, but to live requires ingenuity."

THE GRAND TOUR

Music & Lyrics by Jerry Herman ("Hello, Dolly" and "Mame")

Book by Michael Stewart & Mark Bramble

November 2 - December 4, 2005

Evan Weinstein returns to the Colony after directing its much acclaimed production of Candide! It's a race against time across the Nazi-occupied French countryside. To escape, a humble young Jew fleeing for his life must suddenly join forces with an anti-Semitic Polish officer smuggling secret papers to England. Come share this odd couple's harrowing yet grand adventures, told through Jerry Herman's rousing music and lyrics. Experience the truths they discover about courage, survival, and the meaning of friendship.

Directed by Evan Weinstein

Tony Award Winner! Oscar Triumph! "I looked on astounded as from his ordinary life he made his art...from the ordinary he created legends."

AMADEUS
by Peter Shaffer

February 8 - March 12, 2006

Jessica Kubzansky returns to the Colony following her remarkable Ovation Award-winning production of Lillian Hellman's Toys in the Attic to direct the revival of this Tony and Academy Award-winning show. Antonio Salieri is the most revered musical composer in all Vienna until brash, irreverent boy-genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart steals his thunder. Now what? Wicked revenge played out in this imaginative staging of mega award-winning Amadeus. Greed, irony, betrayal, obsession and envy blend to a dastardly crescendo, as you witness the exquisite clash of ambition and genius, mediocrity and brilliance, life and death.

Directed by Jessica Kubzansky
