Simone Nelson (Assistant
Director of the Colony's production of Grand
Hotel, The Musical) has worked professionally in all aspects
of performance, production and management for theaters on both sides of
the Atlantic including London’s famed Royal Court Theatre and The Shakespeare
Globe, as well as the Magic Theatre, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival,
San Francisco Opera and Yale Repertory Theatre. Simone has served as Assistant
Director for acclaimed performanc e artist Suzanne Lacey on several site-specific,
multi-media performance projects in Northern California and has also worked
with award winning filmmaker Rebecca Miller on a feature film and documentary.
She appeared as Mrs. Lovett
in Sweeney Todd and as Medea in The Medea Project at the Hunger
Artists Theater Company and performs in the cabaret show The Industry Standards
“Dirty Martini Show” in Los Angeles. At Yale Cabaret, she originated
the role of Roberta in the recent Off-Broadway hit, Zanna, Don’t!
Simone received a B.S. in
Theater from Northwestern University and her M.F.A. from Yale School of
Drama.
